David Doidge is a third year undergraduate classical piano student under the tutelage of Michael Young at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. Born in Plymouth, David began learning the piano at the age of 12 with Susan Davies (A.R.C.M) and then moved on to professional lessons with Phillip R Buttall (A.R.C.M) after he passed his grade 8 piano with distinction at the age of 13.

As a young performer he has musically directed and played for many professional musicals in the Plymouth area such as Oklahoma, Carousel, Fame the Musical, Snoopy the Musical, Les Miserables and Oliver. David is also well known for his contributions to music and 1st place achievements

in many festivals and competitions thoughout Devon and Cornwall where he has performed as a soloist and an accompanist.

Whilst being at the RWCMD, he has been involved with Welsh National Opera, Only Men Aloud and City Voices Cardiff as an accompanist and recently won 1st prize in the Mansel Thomas accompaniment competition.

Over the easter period of 2010, David was invited to spend four day's playing in concert as a soloist and an accompanist on the island of Ischia (Italy) to celebrate the lives of Sir William and Lady Susana Walton for their dedication and passion to the profession of composition and perfomance.

David has had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses with iconic professional pianists such as Fazliddin Husanov, Richard McMahon, Michael Pollock, Simon Lepper, Anna Tilbrook, Katya Lebedeva, Richard Ormrod and Leon McCawley.
